I remember visiting Tacoma and having extreme Gray Dog withdrawl, so I pulled out my Blue Ribbon (yes I carried it with me everywhere) and looked up a handsome dog named Jaeger.

I called up this woman that I'd never spoken to or heard of, and asked
if I could come visit. She said of course.

We pulled into the drive and Jaeger and a then very young Stella came trotting out the front door and down the drive to meet me. He promptly have me chin kisses and I fell in love.

He was a true gentleman. Ok, well, he did eat my girlscout cookies but hey, who could resist right.

Jaeger is why I had my darling Rachel and Zeta and Maggie. He is why I co-own Charlie... They are all here because of that day I first met Stephanie and her boy and the long distance love affair started, even though Bitsy hadn't even met him yet :o)

The weimaraner world has lost a great one...and we are lucky to have shared a space in time with him.

We have three Weims but they are geting old and we got them from the rescue society. I'd love to raise a pup for companionship. I no longer hunt nor am I into showing a dog. However, we love the bred and have had these dogs going back into the 1950's. My parents raised us with Weims. We prefer large dogs and one of our males is about 90 pounds when in shape and 100 pounds when he can't get out to run. Our daughter got my wife & I a Weimaraner puppy for Christmas (our last dog of 14 years left us in November). "Brutus" is our 4th dog, but our 1st purebred.

I have always loved training dogs & have read many books concerning canine psychology. Lately, however, I have been extensivly researching both current training techniques & the Weimaraner breed itself. I began "mini" training sessions almost immediately. Brutus learns quickly! From what I have learned, I have quite a fun & rewarding challenge in front of me.

Along with his training, I have tried to socialize Brutus as much as possible. I teach 8th grade & have taken him to school - my students LOVE him. We have also enrolled Brutus in a "puppy school" where he gets to experience a pack environment. My goal is to maximize the number of positive aspects & minimize the number of mistakes I make (which, I know, will happen). In less than a month, Brutus & I have an incredible bond.

Lost my 15 year old Weim on 19 Sep 06. She had been my best friend...the showing, hunting, etc. were just a few things we did together. First and foremost, she was my companion dog. I will eventually find another Weim. It took me a long time to find Shade -- going to dog shows and just talking to people. I ended up even waiting for her to be conceived!
